Fred's fishing started back in the mid-seventies in south west Scotland on family holidays, fishing burns, rivers and lochs. Back home in London he fished the Hampstead Heath ponds and the Grand Union Canal for a variety of coarse fish species.

In 1977 he first walked into Farlows as a customer and started working as part of the team in 2010. Fred can advise on fishing tackle for the UK and abroad and his angling exploits have taken him and his friends to six of the seven continents: Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia with his destination countries having included: Scotland, Russia, Nepal, Australia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Uganda, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Mexico, Cuba and the USA.
