Fly Casting Video Tutorials

JT Makes A Fly Cast In A River, Fishing For TroutJT Makes A Fly Cast In A River, Fishing For Trout

The American casting instructor Bernhard “Lefty” Kreh once remarked that “most fishermen use the double haul to throw their casting mistakes further”. Learning to cast properly when you start fly fishing is probably the single most important thing you can do.

Mastering the basics takes time and practice, plus a fair amount of resilience. Keep at it, read and watch everything you can, learn from others. Whatever your level, you can always improve your casting and there are plenty of techniques you can add to your skills.

Featuring Robin Elwes (AAPGAI Master & Sportfish Sales Advisor & Instructor) and JT (UK Men’s Overall Fly Casting Champion 2019), we hope you’ll find the below videos help you to learn and improve. That said, nothing beats tuition from a qualified instructor (you can book tuition with Robin Elwes here).
