Job title: Stock Controller

Contract: Part-time. 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 4.00pm

Location: Farlows, London

Reporting to: Farlows Retail Manager

The UK’s longest established and best known retailer of fishing, shooting and country sports equipment and clothing requires a full time Stock Controller to join its Central London retail operation. We need an individual with previous stockroom experience preferably within the luxury market and ideally in the country sporting sector.

Duties and responsibilities

Stockrooms and stock movement
  • Organisation of stockrooms including layout by brand and range.
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in stockroom areas. This includes care of the products and the placement of product on the stockroom fixtures in an organised and tidy fashion.
  • Ensuring on a daily basis that sales are replenished and stock is moved efficiently to the appropriate areas of the store.
  • Processing deliveries arriving at the store, including; 
  • Checking and marking off product correctly to delivery notes.
  • Registering any discrepancies on delivery paperwork and following correct procedure for notification.
  • Ticketing product ready for the shop floor as well as stockroom and ensuring that security tags are applied as appropriate.
  • Putting away incoming product in appropriate storage areas in an organised and tidy fashion. 
  • Picking of internet orders/internal stock transfers and packing/preparing for despatch.
  • Assisting in stock counts on a rolling basis or as and when required.
Retail
  • Maintaining a good knowledge of store layout and product locations within it.
  • Maintaining a good knowledge of how to use the company’s tills and EPOS software and being able to process sales transactions thereon.
  • Ensuring that shopfloor standards and disciplines are adopted at all times and being ready and able to assist customers as required.
Health & Safety
  • Establishing a good understanding of health and safety policies and procedures of the company and ensuring that these are applied at all times.
  • Proactively disposing of rubbish on a daily basis from the stockroom and retail areas.
  • Highlighting any potential risk areas to relevant personnel.
  • Understanding the correct stock handling procedures e.g. lifting and unpacking of boxes, using sharp instruments.
Administration
  • Ensuring that all tickets on products are correct and are checked on a regular basis.
  • Maintaining all paperwork and files at the workstation in a neat and organised manner. Keeping the despatch area tidy and organised and stocked with required materials and tools.
  • Responding to emails or other correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
General
  • Liaising effectively with other personnel from across the company.
  • Carrying out or assisting in any other duties as requested by management.
  • Maintaining the required standard of appearance and personal hygiene.

Job title: Sales Advisor

Farlows sells high quality fishing tackle, clothing, accessories and footwear and a comprehensive range of country clothing designed for fieldsports and rural pursuits.

We’re currently looking for a confident, articulate full-time Sales Advisor to join a fantastic team at our Pall Mall, London store. You’ll need a proven retail background and exceptional customer facing skills, with experience in technical and country sports clothing plus an understanding of rural pursuits. A knowledge of shooting and fly fishing is desirable.

Job Title: Part-time Stock Controller

Reports to: Retail Manager

Location: London

We are looking for a part time Stock Controller to join the team at our Pall Mall, London, store to work Mon-Fri 11am - 4pm. This position involves the processing and logging of stock coming into our store and the packing and processing of orders going out to our customers. No prior knowledge of fishing and fieldsports is required for this role, however applicants must be numerate and computer literate with a good sense of attention to detail.

Key Attributes

The successful applicant will:

  • Be familiar and competent with Microsoft Office programmes, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Be organised, disciplined and honest with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate care and attention when handling customer orders.
  • Be comfortable working on tasks alone as well as in part of a wider team.
