Job Title:      Travel and Marketing Assistant

Reports to:   Farlows Travel Manager / Farlows Group Marketing Manager

Location:      Farlows, 9 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5NP

Primary responsibilities and duties;

- Provision of administrative support for Farlows Travel, including;

  • Preparation of invoices and submission to clients for payment. Subsequent liaison with clients to ensure payments are made on time.
  • Processing of incoming invoices/charges from destinations and liaison with finance department.
  • Providing a point of contact and source of advice for Farlows Travel clients and emergency response as required for those already on trips.
  • Representing and providing support for Farlows Travel at events and shows.
  • Regular social media updates across all relevant channels.
  • Liaison with FT destinations and partners to build a database of marketing materials and appropriate imagery to fuel social media interactions.

- Provision of marketing support for Farlows and Sportfish, including;

  • Regular social media updates for both brands, and the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre, across all social media channels.
  • Proof reading – checking and amending of newsletters, website product descriptions and miscellaneous texts.
  • Copywriting – helping to create more content for, and structure to, the existing websites.
  • Blogging – working with staff teams and brand ambassadors to create content to support current campaigns, both online and in print.
  • Photography – occasional ad hoc photography in support of marketing activities.

Personal Attributes

- The successful candidate will;

  • Be highly organised and accurate in their work and be able to work at different times from our offices in London, Reading and, at times, from home.
  • Be literate and numerate with highly developed communication skills, written and verbal and a high standard of personal presentation.
  • Be flexible and adaptable, capable of running many facets of a wide and varied role.
  • Be demonstrably proficient in the world of social media communications.
  • Be an experienced fly fisher with a good understanding of the sport and able to talk about fishing using the correct language and terminology with clients directly and via social media. 
  • Have some knowledge of the broader fieldsports world, particularly shooting and hunting.
  • Ideally will have some foreign travel experience, even if not directly fly fishing related.

Job Title:       Instructor / Sales Advisor

Reports to:   Sportfish Game Fishing Centre Manager / Farlows Group Tuition Manager

Location:      Sportfish Game Fishing Centre, Theale, Reading, Berkshire

We are seeking a candidate to fill the position of Instructor / Sales Advisor. 

This position will involve

Delivering fly casting instruction and game fishing tuition at the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre and working as part of the retail sales team in the onsite game fishing store. 

The successful candidate should

  • Be able to deliver hourly lessons and day courses and to assist with the organisation and delivery of residential courses, in both single and double-handed disciplines, at a variety of locations.
  • Be prepared to work with the current team to deliver tuition of an exceptional standard, and to help stimulate growth within this important sector of our business.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Ideally be certified in both single and double-handed casting disciplines, preferably to APGAI or AAPGAI standard.
  • Have proven retail sales experience, a thorough understanding of customer service and be able to work well in a small team. 

The Instructor / Sales Advisor position is full time one, reporting to the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre Manager and the Farlows Group Tuition Manager. The successful candidate will be expected to work regular weekends and off site, possibly abroad, when required, within a standard 40-hour working week.
