Great reel, bail arm need improvement

Purchased this reel from farlows last year and have used it for catching trout, snake head and other predators. Very quiet and smooth reel with an excellent drag. I pair it with my St. Croix Premier rod and the combo works great. However, the bail arm doesn't close at it's own when I start cranking and I have to manually close it with my hand. Not expected in a reel of this price and repute. I don't think that there is a problem with the design as I couldn't get the same observation from friends using the same reel in Canada and USA.... may be my reel is faulty.
