Guided Fly Fishing Days with Nick Hart

Farlows’ Fishing Manager, Nick Hart, is slipping back into his waders to offer 12 exclusive guided days throughout the 2018 season, fishing for trout and bass across the West Country.

‘River 2 Rock’ Guided Fishing with Nick Hart

Team up with Farlows’ Nick Hart on a ‘source to sea’ West Country fishing adventure based on exploring the rivers and rocky shoreline of Devon in search of trout and bass.

AAPGAI instructor Nick will collect you from your accommodation and your first day will be spent on the headwaters of one of Devon’s iconic rivers, such as the Exe, Barle or Lyn in search of wild brown trout.

The following day you will travel with Nick to a bass mark on the north Devon coast to target bass on the fly or, if you prefer, with lures.

Only two rods are available per trip, with both novice and experienced fishers catered for. You may bring your own kit (our recommended kit list is provided below), or all tackle can be provided.

Please be aware that saltwater fly fishing is physically demanding, requiring long distance walks over uneven terrain, including slippery rocks, deep water may also be encountered.  Please take this into consideration when booking your River 2 Rock adventure.

Customer Testimonials

I wanted to email to say thank you for your excellent guiding on the ‘River 2 Rock’ weekend. The upper Barle is such a wonderfully scenic stretch of water it would have been great to spend the day there but you were right to say the water was too low for good fishing, after the first couple of hours of trying. The Exe was a more than satisfactory alternative and gives a wonderful opportunity for sight fishing when the trout and grayling are in the right place. To watch a grayling turn and come up to take a dry fly was something I’ve rarely been able to do and the end result was probably my biggest grayling on the fly. Losing that large brownie at the end of day one was a bit sad but more than compensated for by the even bigger one the next morning before we hit the ‘rocks’. The bass weren’t exactly enthusiastic but taking two on the fly when the adjacent lure anglers went home empty-handed was a testament to your skill in steering my tactics and coaching my technique as well as your choice of mark. Thank you again for an excellent weekend. Until the next time, best wishes, Jim
