MUSTO Celebrates 30 Years of the Highland Jacket

Leading performance clothing brand, MUSTO, searches for the UK's oldest Highland jacket and launches new collection at Farlows this September.

Musto ClothingKnown for pushing the boundaries of design and innovation, MUSTO utilises over 50 years of hands on sailing experience, to create highly technical, country apparel. Designed to stand the test of time and fully protect the wearer from the elements, it’s no wonder that the Highland is such an iconic jacket, and a firm favourite during the unpredictable shooting season.

MUSTO Launches Highland Jacket Trilogy

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Highland, MUSTO will be launching a trilogy of jackets, in varying weights, for AW/16. For three decades, the prestigious jacket has encapsulated the innovation and sense of adventure that MUSTO is renowned for, and is now evolving to form its very own range.

The original Highland GORE-TEX® Jacket (pictured middle) is constructed using exceptionally tough windproof and waterproof, three-layer GORE-TEX® fabric, which offers complete weather protection. With over 1.4 billion microscopic pores, the fabric is highly breathable, allowing for perspiration to easily escape during moments of activity. Double storm flaps, an adjustable peaked hood, durable water repellent cuffs and a high collar construction, offer further protection from the elements, whilst the flannel lining reduces noise out in the field.

The Highland GORE-TEX® Lite Jacket (pictured right) is ideal for those crisp autumn mornings that are prone to interchangeable weather. This innovative jacket embodies all of the same features as the regular Highland, enabling it to protect the wearer in all conditions, but is constructed of a much lighter fabric. The Highland Lite Jacket features action back and underarm articulation for freedom of movement, an inner poachers pocket with stud closure and a mesh drainage channel.

The lightest of the trilogy, the Highland GORE-TEX® Ultra Lite Jacket (pictured left) is ideal for shooting in slightly warmer weather. The jacket still retains the same waterproof, windproof and breathable qualities of the original Highland, along with the other incorporated features, but is exceptionally lightweight and easy to carry.

Do you have the oldest MUSTO highland jacket?

To celebrate 30 years of this iconic jacket and the new additions to the collection, MUSTO is searching for the oldest Highland Jacket in the UK. Each marked with an individual serial number; customers are invited to present their jackets to MUSTO at the AW16 launch at Farlows, London, on the 22nd September; the owner of the oldest jacket will be awarded a brand new one at the event.

MUSTO will also be running a competition on its social channels, inviting customers to share pictures of their Highland jackets and stories of their adventures. The best stories will be compiled and shared on the MUSTO blog, where entrants will be in with the chance of winning a brand new jacket.  You may connect with MUSTO’s social channels on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/mustoclothing and on Twitter @mustoclothing

A freshwater biologist by training I drifted into angling journalism and am now Farlows Group marketing manager. A hopelessly inadequate fly angler (the team are hoping to put that right.) I have fished all over the world and am now most at home fishing for River Test grayling, River Ebro catfish, Indian mahseer, or battling giant freshwater stingray on the Thai rivers. Away from my rod I do a bit of shooting and a lot of fruit and vegetable growing!
